We are now in the 2nd eight week period of our program, which means baseline and 1st eight weeks have gone by. We now have; one KinderCorner class, three Reading Roots classes, five ReadingWings classes, and seven ReadingEdge classes. We have had two productive SFAF Implementation Visits, and are anticipating two more on December 14th and 15th, 2009. Our trainers are very helpful, and provide insight into how we can continue to evolve our program into "Blue-Ribbon" status. This week, our achievement plan focuses on increasing student and team engagement in the classroom. The facilitator, as well as administrators will be conducting classroom walkthroughs, using a goal-focused observation form that provides measurable data on the amount of team discussion happening during SFA class periods. This data will be shared with the SFAF trainers and discussed with all the teachers involved during the up coming Implementation visit. The rationale behind this effort is that students need to learn to think about what they read, and one of the best ways to that end is through discussion. Think-Pair-Share and Numbered Heads helps keep discussion flowing and maximizes the number of student respodents. Our SFA program has completed two assessment periods and the results are published below.
The data in the chart above represents mastery levels as determined by mutliple measures which include: classroom assessments, classroom observations, formal assessments, local and state assessments, where necessary.
