Pembroke Community Consolidated School District #259 has been dedicated to providing up-to-date technology resources to its students since the introduction of our first AppleII lab back in 1984. Since then, we have grown into a center of telecommunications for the community at-large.
The computer lab is equipped with 23 state-of-the-art HP Compaq workstations and a high=volume HP color laser printer, in a spacious temperature controlled room. This room serves as a venue for students to take their computer-based Universal Screener, called ThinkLink, by Discovery Educational Assessments. They also use a host of other instructional software titles such as Study Island, Scholastic Reading Inventory, CompassLearning Odyssey, as well as resaerch on high-speed internet access.
All classrooms, offices and the library are equipped with new to fairly new computers.Student information processing is done by STI, and our cafeteria meal processor is Cafeterminal.

TECH 2010!!
Our school, Lorenzo R. Smith School in Hopkins Park, IL has been selected to take part in the annual “TECH 2010 Students for the Information Age” demonstration on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the State Capitol Building.  At TECH 2010, we will join other teams of students and teachers from approximately 100 schools throughout Illinois to demonstrate how we're using technology in our classrooms to prepare for an information-based society.

During the event, we will showcase students teaching students using technology.  Taking part in the demonstration will be Amecia Morgan, Mantrell Bishop, Mr. Donald Somerville and Mrs. Linda Terrell.

The TECH 2010 event is a statewide initiative, supported by a broad range of education and business organizations, to demonstrate to policymakers, business leaders and citizens how technology is being used to create exciting classroom learning environments.
